Can there be too much Sparkle?

There’s been something on my mind of late beauties, with all this time in lockdown, it leaves a gal a lot of time to really dig deep and probably over think a wee bit as well. Hey we had nothing but time.
This all came about for me when I was putting some of my sparkly crystals back to their homes on my shelves and the little places in the house they live. I had previously put them out under the Super Libra Full Moon for some super recharging and love.
It occurred to me as there are a few new ones that have found their way into my crystal charging tray, where did some of these lil beauties actually come from, I mean how were they dug up from the earth, what mess was left behind to get these shiny crystals out to me as the consumer. I mean how many have of you have actually asked this question, once the crystal buying frenzy sweats have subsided. How are they mined? What goes into getting them shiny and smooth and shaped or does that not even enter your thoughts. Hey I am by all means not judging you but I am at this stage I’m judging the shit out of myself, because I could not find the answer and it irked me.
In a market that is so over saturated by crystals, site after site selling them, Pinterest boards, Instagram photos and Facebook all making them look glorious and so shiny, making you want to have them and so many more. I mean its almost like this feeling of need that comes over you, it’s like a kid in a candy store or those seagulls in Finding Nemo. Mine Mine Mine Mine! I must have them allllllll.
The real question I have been pondering is. Is it actually ethical at all to have a home full of crystals if we are trying so hard to heal Mumma E? If we are trying to fight the big fight to stop the sea being pillaged, Oil being sucked from the core, Rainforests being plowed for human consumption in one shape or form.
Is it OK to have shelves loaded with shiny crystals, bowls overflowing, jewelry adoring our very bodies if the earth has been destroyed or damaged in some shape or form?
Hey don’t get me wrong. I have plenty. I wear a beautiful Moonstone and a Labradorite ring on my fingers, necklaces that sometimes have a crystal hanging sit around my neck, even my wrists are adorned with bracelets of multiply different kinds some days.
But I do know where 76% of them come from. I guess that’s what got me thinking. I have asked shops where and how they are sourced. I have even come across this beautiful stall at one of those Mind, Body Soul markets where they had a folder all prepared for my questions. Like shut the front door!! It even had pictures in the book, as pictures do tell a bigger story. I was gobsmacked and of course I have gone back to them and purchased more.
All I’m saying is don't feel bad to ask yourself the small question if something is not meeting your values. Ask the companies where they source them. You actually may be surprised at their answer, they could have processes in place and future plans. Its whatever feels good for you as a consumer on this earth. We all have to do our bit right?
Hey you might not even have a care in the world, looking after the planet might not even be your thing but nevertheless.
I’m just looking out for Mumma E!
